The press coverage in ‘the Advertiser’ of 9 November shows the benefit of working in partnership with the Oakland Foundation on this occasion to improve the playground facilities at Catshill Middle School.
Our Purple4Polio campaign received some welcome publicity in ‘the Standard’ newspaper of 28 October 2016 thanks to our PR lead Rotarian Mike Marshall.
This year, members of the Rotary Club of Bromsgrove will be collecting for charity on 6 November at Webbs of Wychbold, and on 22 December at Morrisons in Bromsgrove.
On 25 October the Rotary Club of Bromsgrove celebrated Diwali with a superb Indian meal and lots of lights at the home of President Elect Amal Rampal, during which some £325 was raised for charity. On this occasion we were joined by Peter Williams President of the Rotary Club of Redditch, and we enjoyed very much the generous hospitality of Amal and his family.
Ahead of World Polio Day on 24 October 2016, members of the Rotary Club of Bromsgrove gathered at Sanders Park in Bromsgrove on 19 October with children from Dodford First School to plant several thousand purple crocuses. The event aims to publicise the efforts of Rotary and others to eradicate Polio throughout the world. Our thanks go to the school children for their boundless enthusiasm in carrying out the planting, and to the staff of Bromsgrove District Council Parks and Open Spaces for their very willing collaboration. We hope that the crocuses will add to the public’s enjoyment of the park in 2017!
The Rotary Club of Bromsgrove will be celebrating Diwali at the home of one of our members towards the end of October 2016.
Rotarian Revd. Alan White has just republished his book on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal, and was present for a book signing on 15 October at the Norton Collection Museum in Bromsgrove. As a Club, we are extremely proud of his achievements!
Our President Deborah Roberts was delighted to present a cheque for £2000 recently to Headteacher Geraint Roberts and teacher Matt Ridge to support the Summer School which St John’s Church of England Middle School Academy is running during the summer holidays 2016.

President Deborah Roberts surprised Secretary Ron Pearce on 28 June 2016 with the award of the Roger Brazier Memorial tankard for ‘Endeavour’ in support of the Club’s activities.
