Rotary Day 2021

On 23 February 1905 Rotary International was founded by Chicago-based lawyer Paul Harris. This year Rotary Day will celebrate 116 years of our incredible organization!

During that time, Rotary has united people in a common purpose – making connections and making a difference. That ethos rings true today as we continue to support our communities when they need it most.

Worcestershire Young Carers

Jon Cawdron of Worcestershire Young Carers spoke to a number of Rotarians on 9 February, and we look forward to working with the organization over the coming year in support of our amazing Young Carers!

Worcestershire Young Carers is commissioned by Worcestershire County Council to provide assessment, signposting, one to one support and monthly youth clubs for young people with a caring role at home, aged between 7 and 17, who live in Worcestershire – they also support young adult carers aged between 18 and 25. The caring role could be for a parent, a sibling or a grandparent due to illness, disability, physical or mental health difficulties or substance misuse.

Medaille Trust

At our meeting on 26 January 2021 members listened to a talk about modern slavery in the UK presented by a member of the Medaille Trust which exists to combat the problem and provide refuge and freedom to victims of modern slavery – supporting them as they rebuild their lives. The Trust is one of the largest providers of supported safe house beds for victims of modern slavery in the UK. Our Rotary Club is pleased to support the work of the Trust with a donation of £100.
