The Club is pleased to be sponsoring three Sixth Form students from South Bromsgrove High School to attend a residential weekend from 12-14 July 2019 at a centre at Lichfield, where on completion they will gain a Rotary Youth Leader Award. The students are existing members of our Interact Club.

On 29 June 2019 Andy Wuzik in conjunction with Tony Docherty staged the Bromsgrove Bluegrass Bash in the High Street, which was supported by a number of local musicians, who played for twelve hours. The event proved very popular with local townspeople, and a street collection was held in aid of Burnaid. Burnaid exists to support child victims of burn injuries and their families, and the charity was set up by Helen King a former Honorary Member of our Club, who sadly passed away recently after a long battle with cancer. The event was supported as well by corporate sponsorship, provided by WuzikMuzik, Judd Medical, the Maekong Thai Restaurant, and Bromsgrove Printing Company.

On 25 June 2019 we had a get together at the Maekong Thai Restaurant in Bromsgrove, when outgoing President Amal Rampal handed over the chain of office to incoming President Tony Docherty. Tony then presented Ray Sinclair with his badge of office as President Elect. Members and guests had a very enjoyable evening and excellent food as always. At the event, Secretary Ron Pearce was presented with a Paul Harris Fellowship. As a Club, we are delighted that Amal has been appointed an Assistant Governor for District 1060, and we congratulate him warmly.

The Rotary Club of Bromsgrove is delighted to be sponsoring the South Bromsgrove High School Interact Club, where the Headteacher is a Rotarian. The Club was established on 7 March 2019, and already its members have identified the Basement Project in Bromsgrove and a school in Tanzania as two causes worthy of their support and fundraising efforts. It’s great to see young people embracing the idea of ‘Service above self’ and working enthusiastically for the benefit of those less fortunate than themselves in communities at home and abroad!

The Rotary Club of Bromsgrove is delighted to be one of the organisations supporting young people who will be jetting off to North America this summer to be part of the 24th World Scout Jamboree. The Jamboree brings together 40,000 Scouts from over 150 countries round the globe to a unique cultural experience that only takes place once every four years. It truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the Scouts as they can only attend once as a young person. Further details can be found in an article published in Issue 9 of Completely Bromsgrove (May 2019).
Members are encouraged to come to the Norton Collection in Bromsgrove at 6.30pm on 7 May 2019, when we will do a joint visit with members from the Rotary Club of Redditch Kingfisher, which will be hosted by Dennis Norton. Afterwards, we are going to have a meal together at the Slug and Lettuce in the High Street.
The Rotary Club of Bromsgrove gives notice that it will hold its Annual General Meeting at 4pm on 14 May 2019 at the Maekong Thai Restaurant in Worcester Road, Bromsgrove.
